Rollit, on your home screen
Rollit installs straight from the web onto your phone, tablet and computer. You get a real icon, a full screen with no address bar, and an app that opens instantly — without downloading anything from a store.
How to install
-
1
Open rollit.site in Chrome. Samsung Internet, Edge and Opera work too — the menu is in a slightly different place.
-
2
Tap the menu, top right. In Samsung Internet it's the lines at the bottom right instead.
-
3
Tap "Add to Home screen". Chrome sometimes calls it "Install app". Samsung Internet: "Add page to" → "Home screen".
-
4
Tap "Install" to confirm. The Rollit icon lands on your home screen next to everything else.
Android usually offers this by itself. If a bar slid up at the bottom of the screen saying "Add Rollit to your home screen", that's the same thing in one tap.
-
1
Open rollit.site in Safari. Any iPhone or iPad on iOS 16.4 or newer.
-
2
Tap the Share button The square with an arrow coming out of it — bottom of the screen on an iPhone, top right on an iPad.
-
3
Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen". It's a fair way down the list, past the sharing options.
-
4
Tap "Add", top right. Done — Rollit is on your home screen with its own icon.
Worth doing on an iPhone even if you're happy in Safari: an installed Rollit keeps you signed in indefinitely, while a normal Safari tab can quietly log you out after a week or two of not visiting.
-
1
Open rollit.site in Chrome or Edge. Any Chromium browser will do. Firefox on desktop can't install web apps.
-
2
Look for the install icon in the address bar. Right-hand end of the address bar, next to the bookmark star. Click it and then "Install".
-
3
No icon there? Use the menu. Chrome: → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
Edge: → Apps → Install this site as an app.
Rollit then behaves like any other program: its own window with no browser clutter, an entry in the Start menu, and you can pin it to the taskbar.
-
1
Safari on macOS Sonoma or newer: Open rollit.site, then File → Add to Dock… in the menu bar, and click Add.
-
2
Chrome or Edge instead: Click the install icon at the end of the address bar, or → Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
-
3
Open it from the Dock or Launchpad. Rollit gets its own window and its own icon, like a Mac app.
On an older macOS where Safari has no "Add to Dock", use Chrome or Edge — or just keep Rollit in a tab, nothing is missing there.
-
1
Linux, ChromeOS, or anything else: Open rollit.site in Chrome, Edge, Brave or any Chromium browser and click the install icon in the address bar.
-
2
On Firefox desktop there's no install. Mozilla removed it. Nothing on Rollit needs it — bookmark the site and everything works the same.
Installing is a convenience, never a requirement. Every feature works in a normal browser tab.

Questions
Is this a real app, or just a bookmark?
A real app. It's a Progressive Web App — the same technology behind the installed versions of Twitter, Spotify's web player and Starbucks. You get an icon, a full-screen window with no browser interface, offline handling and its own place in your app switcher. What it skips is the store download.
Why isn't Rollit in the App Store or Google Play?
It doesn't need to be, and going through a store would mean waiting days for a review every time something is fixed. Installing from the web means updates reach you within seconds. Store versions may come later — installing now costs you nothing either way, and your account is the same account.
How much space does it take?
A few megabytes, against the hundreds a typical app from a store will ask for. Rollit stores the interface on your device and fetches everything else — posters, ratings, feeds — as you go.
How do I update it?
You don't. Rollit updates itself in the background, and when a new version is ready you'll see a small "A new version of Rollit is ready" bar with a Reload button — deliberately, so it never swaps the app out from under you mid-rating.
How do I remove it?
Exactly like any other app: press and hold the icon and choose Remove or Uninstall. On Windows, right-click it in the Start menu. Nothing happens to your account, your ratings or your lists — sign back in anywhere and it's all there.
I can't find the install option.
Three usual reasons. On an iPhone you must be in Safari — no other iOS browser can install. On a computer you need Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser, since Firefox dropped support. And if Rollit is already installed, the option disappears — check your home screen or Start menu before hunting for it.
Is it safe? Nothing asked me to confirm a download.
Nothing is downloaded to confirm. Installing a web app just saves the site to your home screen and lets it open in its own window — there's no installer, no permissions granted, and no code running outside the browser's normal sandbox. It's why the whole thing takes ten seconds.
